As the year comes to a close we would like to take a quick look at some of the key changes Shopify has introduced into 2021 and what we are excited about in 2022.
What is Shopify 2.0 I hear you ask? The latest version of Shopify has taken all the customers feedback, anger and lack of Usability for a keen Shopify doer (not a coder) as they have the knowledge to do something but it wasn’t possible in the current Shopify framework.
What is Shopify 2.0 – Top 3 Features
SHOPIFY SECTION EVERYWHERE
This is hands down the top of the list for a Shopify feature! With Shopify section everywhere, now the store owners can easily add blocks and sections to any part of the website with just a few clicks and reuse them on other products/pages. So creating great UX designs will be easier than ever before! If you still require a custom Shopify Themes you will need to call in the experts 🙂
META FIELDS
Finally! no more adding App after App to enable a Meta driven store with Shopify 2.0. We can now add meta fields and properties, without having to worry about coding or Apps! This means you can add new content to a product page and customise your store into a streamlined experience.
APPS
App modularity is another win for Shopify Developers like us, if a client sees a Shopify App they like the look of and installs it but then it doesn’t work the way they wanted it, uninstalling without crawling through the code made our Shopify development hell. But thanks to this new feature it’s possible for merchants to add and remove UI components through the theme editor, quickly and easily.
Overall What is Shopify 2.0. Shopify 2.0 is a win, win for all! yes it takes away some of the jobs it creates for us developers but in theory, fewer headaches or fixes as the client can earlier modify the store to suit but if something is too challenging we will always be here to help and advise.
